Is it just me, or are there others out there who are utterly dismayed by Tantra closing its doors a fortnight ago? I *really* liked that place, cos it was cool in many ways. It was a place to chill with your buds. It was a place to meet plenty of interesting people (many sans the attitude of some of the more clicky Colombo crowd who for some reason abhors a new face approaching). It was a place to enjoy the view in a romantic moment. It was a place to be during an “off” night when there was a thunderstorm outside (this is, of course if you are not afraid to take your chances of being struck by lightning) and sit there awestruck by the luminescent white streaks painted across the sky.
Rumor has it that they will open again soon, but under different management. Well, at least for those who did make it to their closing party, I hope you enjoyed the 50% off on the drinks

Yes, I was rather fond of Tantra too. Combined with the closure (?) of Zanziba, lounge bars seem to be a bit thin on the ground in Colombo…

oh bugger….hope they open soon…Tantra was the absolute bloody best place to spend a Sunday afternoon, sunset, arrack and a pretty brown girl….ah the good old days

SpectralCentro-something - Zanzi is under renovation. The Karaoke section will be made into a night club-like area, complete with dance floor, but the lounge area will still be a lounge area. Expect it to re-open in January if all goes well.
